Our outdoor learning environment
| We are constantly improving our outdoor learning environment to improve the education of our children. The polytunnel and large raised planting areas are the latest editions to the outdoor area. Children and staff are actively involved in planting and growing vegetables and flowers. This exciting new feature of our school will allow numerous hands on activities that will help enforce and enrich the curriculum with direct links to healthy eating, healthy lifestyle, cooking and science to name but a few. We have signed up to The Big Wildlife Garden - and have been progressing through the stages. We are currently working towards our Gold standard certificate after obtaining the silver which we are really proud of. Families can join in the fun - see if you can work together and get a certificate for your garden. Click here to register online. |

Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life. Joining the Eco-Schools programme is free and it makes tackling sustainable issues manageable and easy for all schools. We have recently signed up to Eco-Schools and currently following a simple seven-step process which helps us to address a variety of environmental themes, ranging from litter and waste to healthy living and biodiversity.

Our children are the driving force behind Eco-Schools – they lead the eco-committee and help carry out an audit to assess the environmental performance of our school. Through consultation with the rest of the school and the wider community it is the pupils that decide which environmental themes they want to address and how they are going to do it. There are three awards available – Bronze, Silver and the prestigious Green Flag award, which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.
